DOGS
IN FOREVER HOMES
A HUGE
THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE TAKEN ONE OF OUR DOGS INTO YOUR
HEARTS AND YOUR HOMES
|
Ozzie is a young Great Pyrenees whose owner
apparently thought allowing him to run free was appropriate. We had him x-rayed as we were
concerned about the raised vertebra: we thought this might be a result of
malnutrition or an accident. And so it has proven; he was malnourished
and had apparently spent a lot of time unable to exercise, as he had no
musculature to speak of.
Ozzie is around 16
months old with a coat growing in every which way, extremely
underweight and would love to have a family of his own. He does
well with other dogs, but would much prefer to cuddle up with a human
who will give him all the affection he has lacked in his short life.
And has he ever found
his family! His favorite position is apparently lengthwise on
top of his new "Mom" in her recliner :-)) He also has two other dogs
to romp and play and be happy with! |
 |
SQUIRT
 |
Squirt is an adorable
little 12 week old Shih-Tzu mix that we fostered along with his
sister. Very energetic and absolutely fearless around much
larger dogs, Squirt was quite the handful here, but what a cutie!
He is in his forever home
and is being spoiled horribly :-) |
TACO
| Taco was
our first "feed sack" puppy, in that she was literally placed in a
feed sack and then dropped off on the road. Fortunately an alert
driver saw the sack moving and stopped to pick her up. She was
about 12 weeks old at that time. Ya just gotta love some
people........ Taco spent about
five months here and then we transferred her to a another rescue group
and they very quickly found the perfect home for her.
That group is

Christmas Miracle & her puppies
 |
This lovely
girl was found after someone had shot her. A visit to a vet
indicated that there should be puppies so the rescue group that found
her went back with her and found 7 three week old puppies. We
were the only group that had room 3 days before Christmas and Idaho
Malamute Rescue named her, because finding those puppies alive was
truly miraculous.
Christmas herself is in a home with
several other Malamutes and enjoying every minute of it, while all the
puppies found homes as well.

ABBY/SADIE
(FROM
THE HOUND HAGG RESCUE)
|
Abby, a darling little mixed breed, was pulled from the Tri-Cities
shelter. She looked lost in those big kennel runs: she was in with 2
other larger dogs and with her coloring she blended into the concrete. When
she was taken out, she was all kisses and tail wags. After a vet visit
and shots she was placed on Petfinder.com and within a week we had an
approved home for this sweet little gal. Her forever home is right here in
the Tri-Cities. She has
a full time stay at home mom and is in the process of being spoiled rotten.
Her name was also changed to Sadie.
New home...New
life.... New name....Congratulations, Sadie, on your new forever home.

FOXIE
(FROM THE HOUND
HAGG RESCUE)
 |
Foxie was rescued from Prosser animal control. This darling little one
is about 1 1/2 years old. She was a habitual runner. This all started when
her previous owners let her have a litter of puppies and then took them
away. After that every time the door was open, she took off looking for her
babies. So to avoid multiple tickets for "dog at large" her owner signed her
over to the shelter. We work very closely with several shelters in
the area, and when approached, the Prosser shelter manager knew that we would find Foxie a
great home. She stayed with me for about 4 weeks while she was being
evaluated. She was loving, and sweet. All she wanted was someone to love her
and a family to call her own. After Foxie was spayed and recovered
from her surgery she was placed for adoption on Petfinder.com and we had
several interested parties contact us. After narrowing the field,
Foxie and her new forever mom live in Ft Lewis, Wa. Foxie also has a new
brother Tiny, and according to Foxie's forever mom they are getting along
great!
Good luck to Foxie and her new family: may they have many happy years
together! |
HANK
 |
Hank was a sweetheart of
a medium sized mixed breed dog who spent several months with us.
He'd been found wandering around looking for a home here in our area
and no one could keep him.
He and Noa had such a
great time playing together!
We sent him to another
rescue group in Yakima and they found a home for him.

JAKE
(FROM THE HOUND
HAGG RESCUE)
|
Guardian Rescue was
contacted by a couple in the Portland area. They had gotten their mom 2
darling terrier mixes. A short time later their mom had a stroke and had to
go into a nursing home. And they already had 2 dogs so they needed these
cute little guys placed. Off we headed to The Dalles, to take in the
little ones. We work very closely with other rescues in the area, and
decided that Jake would work a lot better with one of the rescues that
specializes in small dogs. They took Jake to one of their adoption days, and
the 1st week Jake had a forever home with a 9 year old to call his own. From
what his new family says, Jake and the 9 year old are almost joined at the
hip! Thank you for your help with this placement Gina!

HERBIE
(FROM THE HOUND
HAGG RESCUE)
|
 |
Have
you ever seen a dog you just could not walk away from??
Well that would be Herbie. We were at the shelter to pick up Abby and in
another kennel run was this sad older looking Doxie. This is one of the hard
parts about rescue: sometimes you have to leave a few, knowing that they
won't make it through the weekend. After we left the shelter I asked my
husband if he saw the doxie: he said yes. I said he won't be here on Monday,
he is too old and they will put him down.
At that he tried to get back into the building. The door was locked. All
weekend
there was a hush in the house.
First thing Monday I was down at the shelter again, to ask about the
doxie. They said they still had him: I said not anymore. My husband's face lit up
like Time Square when I walked out the door with this little guy!
And that is how we got Herbie.
We had Herbie long enough to know he was special: he had a bit of
clouding over his eyes, but such very expressive eyes nevertheless. He got
neutered and had all of his shots. After several weeks with us, he was put up
for adoption. Herbie now has a forever home in the Seattle area. His new owners
give us updates and tell us what a clown he is. And it was love at first
sight. This story ended really well, but only because the shelter forgot to
put a dog down.
If you have any second thoughts about a dog in a shelter don't delay.
He/She may not be as lucky as Herbie |
ANDREW
HONEY & HER
PUPPIES
 |
This Mom was dumped in
someone's front yard about 36 hours before her puppies were whelped and we
offered to foster them for another group.
Honey arrived here with the first one still in the sack and then proceeded to
deliver another 11. Ten of these puppies survived and it was a riot
watching them trying to walk, making lots of puppy noise and surveying their
world. Once this whole crew started to develop individual personalities they
were even more fun to watch.
Honey had a home to go to once
the puppies were old enough and all of the puppies were also quite easy to
place. |

LADY
(FROM
THE HOUND HAGG RESCUE)
|
We were
contacted by a
couple trying to re-home their baby.
Lady is a blue heeler, a breed that needs a job, and lots and lots of
exercise.
The couple who owned Lady were living in an apartment, and poor Lady was going crazy
with boredom.
Guardian Rescue took Lady in and sent her to Heeling Hearts Rescue in
Pullman Washington. They had Lady in a forever home in about 2 weeks.
Now she is playing on acreage and learning agility |
 |
JAKE
| Jake is a 2yr Lab/Chow cross. He's black with a white patch on his chest and some very pretty
reddish feathering on his ears, tail and pantaloons. Jake is neutered and
up to date on all shots. His owners didn't socialize him and he
yearns to be someone's best buddy. He's intelligent, but will
need housebreaking as he was outside on a chain all his life. He needs
obedience but does know how to sit. He's loving, friendly with other dogs,
but chases cats. He needs someone who is willing to invest their time and
to love him and he will be a great companion. He likes running
through the field and checking out new and different things, but
definitely wants human companionship in the process of all this
exploration. His greatest joy is spending time being petted: it's very
obvious that he's been neglected. And he absolutely LOVES to go for
rides in the car! He would be the perfect dog for either an
energetic family with older children or someone in the construction trade
who likes taking his dog to work with him. We sent Jake to another rescue
group and they succeeded in finding him the perfect home in just a few
days! |

MOLLY
(FROM THE HOUND
HAGG RESCUE)
 |
Miss
Molly came to us via a trainer here in the Tri-Cites. Molly had a problem
with
unprovoked biting. With Molly came the one of the most complete medical
histories this rescue has ever seen. Everything was in the file except for
the reason why she was biting. Apparently sometime in her first year, she
was thrown across a room.
And her back was injured. Instead of finding out what happened, the
owners
chose to ignore her biting, until they could not take it anymore and had to
get rid of her!
So Guardian Rescue stepped in. Molly was taken to an animal chiropractor: at
this point it was found that her back had been out of alignment for the
last 3 years. Molly had just turned 4. Because of the lack of medical
treatment at the time of the injury, Molly will have to be adjusted monthly
for the rest of her life.
The initial reason for Molly's biting?? She has dry eye, which is where
the eyes do not produce the correct amount of moisture, and if not treated
this results in blindness.
Because Molly was not treated as a puppy, she is almost 50% blind. This is
another reason she was biting. We took her as far as we could (we are not
poodle experts
but we know who is) so Molly went on to FurBabies rescue in the Seattle
area.
Molly was assessed for temperament. And was found a forever home who takes
her in for treatment monthly and puts her drops in her eyes daily. Thank
you Bonnie for trusting us with Molly's rehab, and thank you FurBabies, for
really understanding Poodles!
Oh! on the way home to Molly's new forever home,.
she promptly bit her new
owners!!
But they understand her medical needs, and are willing to help Molly, and
give her the love she was denied the first 4 years of her life. Good luck
Miss Molly! You're finally in your forever home! |
In the interests of getting this website up and going,
I've left out many of the other dogs we've been privileged to help.
Maybe one of these days the influx of rescues will slow down and I'll be
able to list them all :-)))
And the King shall
answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done
it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
